Film Journal

Rodney Alan - Contax T2

Contax T2 | Portra 400 | Pakon 135 Plus

For some time now I’ve been playing around with film.  Lately I’ve been wondering how film plays a role in my fashion and beauty photography.  Sometimes I wonder why even bother shooting film when the end product is the  picture/image/photograph, not many care as to how the picture came about. I can get a similar image from a digital camera and a little time in Photoshop.  Some people can’t even tell difference between a digital pic using film emulsion filters vs a picture taken with film. But that doesn’t stop me from shooting film whether it’s 35mm, medium format or even instant film.

Over the past 18 months I’ve been bringing a film camera along with my digital camera sorta as a second camera to play around with once I got what I needed with the digital camera.  I haven’t shared most of those pics because they’re similar if not a duplicate of what I have already captured digitally.

With that said, I decided to create a blog of just my pics taken with film cameras.  Most of the pics are from model tests and occasionally random things that I’ve come across during every day life.  This blog is sort of like a journal, but instead of words, its pictures.  Pictures taken with film cameras.

As of today, my film camera quiver consists of a Contax T2 and TVS II, Canon 1v, Mamiya RZ67 Pro II, Polaroid 600, and Fuji Instax 210.  And for my scanning, I using a Epson V700 and Kodak Pakon F-135 Plus mini-lab scanner.
