Breanne. Sony NEX-7 | Zeiss Touit 32 1.8
I’ve been playing with the Zeiss Touit 32 1.8 for about 4 weeks now. Shooting everything around my house from the appliances in the kitchen to random things lying around even my dog. In part 1 of my blog post I briefly talked about the slow focusing and the focus ring. Now I’m going to share some of my pics that I’ve taken with it.
With my first test of the Zeiss 32 1.8 I got in touch with Breanne of Otto Models. The location was at my buddy’s house thats been dubbed as the FratHouse. The peeps that live here is full of talented photographers that have literally used every square inch of their house to shoot in. The house gets some really good natural light throughout the day so we started in the living room then the family room.
One of the difficulties I’ve found is the focusing of the lens which I’ve already mentioned in a previous blog post. That constant pre-focus the lens does is very annoying to the point it slows down the flow of the shoot. In order to combat that I put the camera in manual focus mode so that I can control the focus via the back button.
Check out some of my pics of Breanne where we shot at the house then ventured out to some canyon hills for an outdoor location.
A few days later I wanted to give the Zeiss Touit another test. This time it was with Waverly of Brand Models. You’ve probably seen her from one of my early blog posts, my website or even some commercial print work from Quicksilver, DC Shoes, Pac Sun and others. Last time I’ve shot with Waverly was in 2011, oh how time flies by.

For this test it literally was a walking photo shoot. I had an idea of where we were shooting but not the exact locations. Its kinda fun just roaming around a surf centric city and finding nooks and crannies to shoot at.
We started at some random business district ventured into a few shopping plazas and ending up shooting at a marsh land. The whole shoot was primarily outdoors in hopes to catch the golden hour. However that never happened because it became overcast and the sun was socked in the whole afternoon. Thats the risk when shooting along the coast, June gloom. Considering the light was soft yet flat we made the best of it. Check out some of the pics with Waverly.
After few tests with the Zeiss Touit 32 1.8 it will definitely be part of my NEX-7 tool kit. The Sony NEX camera system was in need of a high quality lens in this focal range. I’m glad that this day has arrived. I’m pretty stoked on this combo, since day one the lense hasn’t left my camera. Stay tuned for more shots with the NEX-7 and Zeiss 32 1.8 combo.
